Like siri, but more advanced. Cubic is a digital friend that simply speaks to you and lets you control your devices, apps, and services from anywhere.

Cubic has many functions for example: if you are at work, you can adjust your temperature at you house, turn off your lights, lock your doors, and set your alarms.You can use Cubic to remind yourself where you parked your vehicle, tell you how many calories you burned, and even make funny comments to keep you company. Cubic also can be used in the car because it can give you traffic updates, and read you emails. When you at home Cubic can tell you about your favorite shows and when it’s going on, play music, order delivery, read instructions while you cook, turn on/off your alarm, tell you jokes, and much more.

You can have natural conversations with Cubic like it is your digital friend, it can recognize your voice up to 25 feet away, you can control your other devices and apps, put on music, and it is always updating.

Since Cubic is a cube, which not everyone would be comfortable taking out, you can also use the Power Badge by pressing the button and simply start talking.

Since I am a user of siri, I compared these two, although I have never used Cubic. But cubic is way more compatible, and has a variety of functions.

Darma

Ergonomics- intended to provide optimum comfort and to avoid stress or injury. Often people work they do not mind the way they sit. This can cause repetitive stress injuries (RSI). RSI occurs when stress is put on a joint, or pulling a muscle around a joint. Furthermore, I made this connnection to Darma since Darma helps you sit smart for a healthy body and mind.

History And Evolution 

Darma was invented by Dr.Junhao Hu, Jeff Fu, Vis Song, and Sherif Kassatly. The light bulb went off when one of their team members experienced back pain, because he was sitting infront of the computer for hours. As a matter of fact they knew it had the pain beacuse of the bad posture, and he did not get up to take a rest too. So, they invented Darma. Darma was named after Bodhidharma, the father of Zen and meditation.

Functions

Darma is the world’s first smart cushion that records your posture, sitting habits, stress levels, and helps you work on how you can improve your sitting habits. Darma has 3 functions: it helps you maintain an upright posture, adopting healthy sitting habits, and it helps you manage your stress, by giving you tips to relax.

Since everybody’s sitting habits differ, Darma provides personal exercises by studying snd monitoring your sitting habits. The Peri duo case

The case I believe everyone imagined, wanted, and dreamed of. MotionSavvy UNI: 1st sign language to voice system

Have you ever wondered how it is to be deaf or unable to speak? Well, unfortunately many people are deaf and mute. Even though I am not deaf and mute, personally I can never stop talking. As a matter of fact being deaf and mute is so heartbreaking, but fortunately MotionSavvy has made something so useful, and a really encouraging device for those.

The MotionSavvy team was from Rochester Institute of Technology / National Technical Institute for the Deaf - one of the best technology schools in the nation. The team members are Ryan Hait, Alexandr Opalka, Jordan Stemper, Wade Kellard, Michelle Giterman, Claire Bernard, Sericia Jackerson, and Alberto Scicali. They said, “We are motivated deaf individuals that set out to break communication barriers between the deaf and hearing.” This was their main reason to make UNI.

UNI is a small, portable, and elegant electronic device that tracks your hands and its movement, and translates your signs to spoken English. Hard to believe? Well, believe it or not even I was shocked and surprised by this advanced technology that can be so effective and encouraging to those who are deaf, and unable to speak.

UNI has 3 different uses: sign to speech- this is the camera captures the movement as you do your sign language and it converts it into words so the people/person you are communicating with will understand. The second use of UNI is Speech to text so if you are not able to hear you can understand what the other person is saying by reading the screen of UNI, and the last use of UNI is visualizer which helps the user to have a mirror image of themselves as they do their sign language.

UNI is in the design of a tablet and has a UNI case to capture the motions you do, and the leap motion capture movement and translates into text. With UNI you can learn without WiFi. So you can use it anywhere you go, and UNI develops an understanding to your sign language and gets trained to understand you more better.

   Siri

Siri is an IOS application, and for further applications, after the IOS. For the people who already have IOS or further applications they would be informed about Siri. Although the people out there that have a lower application than the IOS, this may be a bit more information than the people who already have Siri, and have a good understanding of it.

   

What is siri?

  Siri is a personal, voice that obeys and answers certain questions and other things such as- messaging someone, calling someone, or booking a table at a restaurant, and etc. Siri is a word that not many people know the meaning to, the name is actually Norwegian meaning, “beautiful woman who leads you to victory.” With research many people say, “Apple paid more than $2 million dollars for Siri to be on their mobile search.”

   

  Is siri for you?

  Although all things, including voice activation has its pros and cons. Siri is great for searching, or typing long terms, emails and/or messages. Siri is also useful for setting alarms and/or reminders. It’s simply just a voice activation to do your task. However, this all may sound so good, but everything in life has it’s not really as good side, which some people do not love, which also Siri also has. Siri is only available if it is connected to the internet. Sometimes voice commands are not clearly heard by the Iphone as you speak. Also one drawback that affects many people I have seen, and I have noticed myself is there is no silent button for the Siri, even by lowering the volume the voice of Siri, it does not get lowered. Although Siri has a few disadvantages over all I think Siri is a great invention and has been useful to many people, including myself.

   MY OPINION

  As a user of siri, in my opinion on it will be a useful, less time consuming, voice activation that is useful to the public and me. Like me others have said very positive as well as and negative comments on siri. We have also discussed in class about variety of other voice activation like the Dragon, it is a device that is activated by your voice and the commands, for example to email someone you would just have to tell it to email someone.

The Flic is a wireless smart button. The smart button creates shortcuts for you to do things that normally you would do using your phone. This unique device was created by Amir Sharifat, Joacim Westlund, Pranav Kosuri, Tobias Andersen, Johan Stenberg, David Sanghera, Marcus Karoumi, and Philip Schill. Flic uses Bluetooth Low-energy (BLE) to correspond with your smartphone.

Flic is a simple and smart wireless button that lets you create a shortcut to actions so that you don’t have to touch your phone. Flic uses variety of buttons to do each task, for instance to take a selfie you would use a specific blue button, for an alarm you would use a specific whit alarm, etc. One fascinating connection I found out was, there is a special black button for calling a cab, this reminds me of the Uber app, which also gets a taxi in a more efficient way. A few actions Flic can do are: playing music, by instructing it that if I double click I change the song, and if I click once I pause/play the song.  You can also control

the lights with Flic, find your phone, take pictures, and something everyone loves doing: snoozing the alarm. Lastly, Flic can send distress signals, by telling it that if I click once, share my location to my loved ones, Double click- send a distress message, and if I hold on to the button it alarms my loved ones  that I am in danger. This can be useful to many people, to keep themselves from danger and to feel secure.

Flic has many enchanting features like: its durable- water and dust resistance, shareable- Many users can use the same Flic, reliable- battery life lasts up to 5 years, and has many functions to control it. Lastly, there are 3 different functions per Flic- click, double click, and hold. Also Flic comes with a double sided adhesive so you can stick it to any surface. If it gets dirty,all you have to do is wash it with soap and it will look new again. You can also replace the battery by replacing a battery. All you have to do is twist the backside and replace it with a regular coin cell battery.
